The Wee Man (my 4 yr old son) has lots of allergies and his great nursery school has given him a one to one support worker, D. She is fantastic and her job is to basically watch my son for any allergic reactions he may have during the session. Anyway, D let slip it was her birthday this week and I thought it would be a good opportunity for a present. Any excuse to make gifts.
But of course the gift should be from the Wee Man. Cue...lots of glue and lots of sticky hands. I was given a boxfull of baby food jars from a lovely lady on Freegle. The jars are so cute! I thought it would be a good idea for the Wee Man to make a small vase as a present. To be presented with a little bunch of daffs.
I cut up scraps of floral fabric, gave him some PVA and instructed him to stick the fabric on the jar. I may have helped...slightly...OK, I helped a lot but only because he got bored. What do you think for a four year old?
Thinking maybe a good project for the nursery kids. Something for them to give their Mum on Mothers' Day, maybe. Not quite sure whether glass jars in a roomful of kids would be wise though. Hm!
blog is looking great Madison and I love the jar, going to pinch the idea for my jars :)

I think thats very sweet - when I worked with little ones I loved getting homemade pressies - shows some thought has gone into it :)
ReplyDeleteI love your decoupage vase. Beautiful color combo you used. I've only decoupaged paper on glass jars. I think I'll try fabric scraps now because yours has turned out so beautifully.

Thank you Tracy. I can't take the credit for it though. It was all my son, with a bit of help from me.
