Well technically it was the Wee Man that made his teacher very happy. It is D's birthday today and he proudly presented her with her presents this morning. She did smile, especially after a birthday cuddle from the Wee Man.
A baby food jar, decoupage vase with heavily scented hyacinths and daffodils. A foot print caterpillar birthday card and a little box of chocs. A perfect teachers gift from a 4 year old.

...a foot print caterpillar card
The Wee Man made D's birthday card this afternoon. He really, really enjoyed himself. He made prints of his toes using ready mix paint and a little sponge roller.
He giggled uncontrollably as he rollered his toes. Then I drew on some caterpillar features and he stuck on some little flowers. Turned out pretty cute, but then it's my Wee Man's toes so I'm biologically conditioned to love them.

I'm so excited to tell you all that this post was featured on "Sew Can Do".

The Wee Man (my 4 yr old son) has lots of allergies and his great nursery school has given him a one to one support worker, D. She is fantastic and her job is to basically watch my son for any allergic reactions he may have during the session. Anyway, D let slip it was her birthday this week and I thought it would be a good opportunity for a present. Any excuse to make gifts.
But of course the gift should be from the Wee Man. Cue...lots of glue and lots of sticky hands. I was given a boxfull of baby food jars from a lovely lady on Freegle. The jars are so cute! I thought it would be a good idea for the Wee Man to make a small vase as a present. To be presented with a little bunch of daffs.
I cut up scraps of floral fabric, gave him some PVA and instructed him to stick the fabric on the jar. I may have helped...slightly...OK, I helped a lot but only because he got bored. What do you think for a four year old?
Thinking maybe a good project for the nursery kids. Something for them to give their Mum on Mothers' Day, maybe. Not quite sure whether glass jars in a roomful of kids would be wise though. Hm!

...a blog
Well here I am at last. My very own blog. Yay! It's been a year since I started delving into the world of blogs and I've loved reading every one of them. I thought I should try my hand at it, at the very least it will be my own little diary.
So what is my blog about? Well I like making things, so let's start there. I'm a mum with one four year old son and a rather grumpy but understanding husband. My house is full of bits and pieces of crafting stuff. Lots of projects on the go or waiting to be started. Thus the grumpy husband. Why iron when there is a craft to be planned (i.e. blogs and tutorials to be read)?
Last week was a manic week. It was Chinese New Year and I volunteered at my son son's (Wee Man's) nursery to make, talk and cook all things Chinese New Year. It was a manic and thoroughly enjoyable time. We made Chinese drums, Chinese paper lanterns and Chinese red envelopes. I did a talk for them and showed them a dvd of Chinese lion dancing and my lovely son shared his Lion dance costume with all the children in the class. They were allowed to "put it on" and dance to the very loud drums and cymbals. Then a very quick dash to the school kitchen to cook up some dim sum for their snack. Phew!
The photo is of the Chinese drums the nursery children made. They were given CDs to paint red and decorate with gold bits. I then took them home and attached them onto tubes with two beads attached. I got the idea from this great site. http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/chinese_drum_craft.htm
